Dutch Retail Sales Expand 2.2% In November

In November, the Netherlands experienced an increase in retail sales for the fifth consecutive month, albeit with a slight slowdown in the growth rate, as reported by the Central Bureau of Statistics on Monday.

When adjusted for shopping days, retail turnover in November rose by 2.2 percent annually, marking a marginal decline from the 2.3 percent growth recorded in October.

Sales in the non-food sector saw a notable rise of 4.4 percent compared to the previous year, whereas the food sector experienced a 2.0 percent decrease in turnover.

The report highlighted that various store categories, including recreational goods, consumer electronics and white goods, DIY, clothing, drugstores, as well as shoe and leather goods stores, reported higher turnover in November than the same period last year.

Additionally, the data indicated a 1.8 percent increase in online retail sales compared to last year.
