In December, Romania's consumer price inflation held steady, following increases in the preceding months, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics on Tuesday. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) saw a year-on-year rise of 5.1 percent in December, maintaining the same rate observed in November.
Food product prices experienced a 5.09 percent increase compared to the previous year, while non-food goods saw a 4.38 percent rise. Service costs were notably higher, with a 7.1 percent increase.
On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices edged up by 0.3 percent in December. The National Institute also reported an average annual inflation rate of 5.6 percent for 2024.
