Italy experienced an uptick in industrial production for the second consecutive month in November, according to data released by the national statistical agency ISTAT on Tuesday.
Industrial output increased by 0.3% compared to the previous month, building on October's 0.1% growth. This result surpassed economists' predictions, who had anticipated no change.
Breaking down the sectors, energy production surged by 1.6%, while consumer goods saw a 0.9% increase. Output for intermediate goods edged up by 0.3%, though the capital goods sector experienced a decline of 0.6%.
On a year-over-year basis, the reduction in industrial production moderated to 1.5% in November from the steeper 3.5% decrease observed in October. Notably, production levels have been on a downward trend since February 2023.
