Turkey Consumer Confidence Falls Slightly In January

At the beginning of the year, Turkey experienced a slight dip in consumer confidence, as reported by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Thursday. The consumer confidence index declined marginally to 81.0 in January, compared to 81.3 in December. It's important to note that any score below 100 signals a pessimistic sentiment.

The index reflecting the current financial situation of households showed a slight improvement, rising to 64.8 from the previous month's 63.8. In contrast, the expectations for the financial future of households declined to 80.5 from 81.9.

On a positive note, consumer expectations regarding the general economic situation improved, climbing to 79.1 from 76.8 in December. However, the index evaluating consumer willingness to spend on durable goods over the next twelve months decreased from 102.6 to 99.4.

This consumer confidence survey is a collaborative effort conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute in partnership with the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.
