Lithuania's industrial production witnessed a robust expansion in December, primarily fueled by notable growth in the manufacturing sector, according to data released by Statistics Lithuania on Monday.
In December, industrial output increased by a calendar-adjusted 7.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
The manufacturing sector alone saw an impressive annual growth of 8.4 percent in December, while the mining and quarrying industry recorded a 2.5 percent rise. Conversely, utility output fell by 1.6 percent.
Within the main industrial sectors, the production of intermediate goods experienced the most significant increase, climbing by 19.2 percent, while the production of capital goods rose by 16.8 percent.
On a month-to-month basis, industrial production increased by a seasonally and working-day-adjusted 2.2 percent in December.
The report also indicated that total industrial production grew by 4.1 percent in 2024 compared to 2023.
Furthermore, separate official statistics revealed that annual retail sales growth, excluding VAT, accelerated to 8.7 percent in December, up from 7.1 percent in November. Monthly sales saw a 1.3 percent increase. Overall, retail sales in 2024 were 4.7 percent higher than in 2023.
