Halliburton Wins Landmark Offshore Drilling Contract With Petrobras

Halliburton (HAL), a renowned oilfield services firm headquartered in Texas, revealed on Wednesday the acquisition of a significant contract from Petrobras. This agreement entails providing comprehensive drilling services for numerous offshore fields located in Brazil.

This contract, which Halliburton secured through a competitive selection process, spans a three-year period and encompasses both development and exploratory drilling operations.

Commencing in 2025, this contract stands as Halliburton's most substantial service deal with Petrobras to date. It notably enhances Halliburton's operations in both the pre-salt and post-salt regions, expanding their reach in drilling services for both development and exploration projects.

As part of this agreement, Halliburton plans to implement its advanced iCruise intelligent rotary steerable system (RSS) to optimize well positioning and reduce drilling durations. Furthermore, the company will employ its LOGIX automation and remote operations platform to ensure uniformity and boost the performance of well construction processes. Halliburton will also utilize its EarthStar ultra-deep resistivity service for precise borehole placement and reservoir mapping.

To tackle the challenges associated with offshore drilling fluid dynamics, Halliburton will introduce its BaraLogix real-time service. This innovative solution employs state-of-the-art hydraulic software, automated surface measurement, and predictive analytics to minimize downtime and improve operational effectiveness.

Additionally, Halliburton will deploy proprietary technologies like the Cerebro® in-bit sensing system and introduce advanced services such as the Reservoir Xaminer formation testing. This service is designed to unveil complex structural reservoir details, aiding in more strategic decision-making throughout drilling, completion, and production processes.

Currently, Halliburton shares are trading at $26.43, reflecting a 0.23% change, on the New York Stock Exchange.
