United States Steel Corp. (X) recently released its fourth-quarter earnings report with key financial highlights as follows:
The company posted a net loss of $89 million for Q4, compared to a net loss of $80 million during the same quarter in the previous year. On a per-share basis, the loss was $0.39 in Q4, compared to a loss of $0.36 per share in the same period last year. After excluding certain items, the adjusted earnings amounted to a loss of $28 million, or $0.13 per share, for this quarter.
Analyst expectations were slightly more optimistic, with a projected loss of $0.26 per share. Revenue for the fourth quarter stood at $3.509 billion, a decrease from $4.144 billion in the same quarter last year.
