In December, Norway experienced a slight reduction in industrial production, following increases in the two preceding months, as reported by Statistics Norway on Friday. The seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 0.2 percent from the previous month, countering a similar increase of 0.2 percent in November.
The downturn was primarily due to a 0.8 percent decrease in the extraction and related services sector, with natural gas extraction specifically declining by 2.7 percent. Conversely, manufacturing production accelerated, showing a robust growth of 3.2 percent during the month. Meanwhile, the growth in utility production slowed to 1.3 percent, down from 2.9 percent in November. Additionally, output from the mining and quarrying sector experienced a significant increase, jumping by 6.5 percent.
On an annual basis, industrial production registered a 0.3 percent increase in December, compared to a 0.5 percent rise observed the previous month.
