In February 2025, Cape Verde experienced an increase in its annual inflation rate, reaching 2.6% compared to 2.1% in the preceding month. This marks the highest inflation rate since September 2023. The acceleration in inflation was notably driven by rising costs in various sectors: transportation (5.0% up from 4.0% in January), hotels and restaurants (3.9% up from 1.1%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.6% up from 2.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (5.7% up from 5.6%). Conversely, inflation in the clothing sector eased, dropping to 2.8% from 5.1%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices saw a significant rise of 0.6%, marking the most substantial monthly increase in eight months, following a modest uptick of 0.1% in January.
