Morocco Inflation Rate at Over 1-Year High

In February 2025, Morocco's annual inflation rate increased to 2.6%, up from 2% in January. This figure represents the highest level since December 2023. The inflation uptick was primarily driven by surging prices in sectors such as food and non-alcoholic beverages, which climbed to 4.7% from 3.4% in January. Clothing and footwear saw a rise from 0.9% to 1.1%, while prices in restaurants and hotels edged up slightly to 3.7% from 3.5%. Conversely, transportation costs decreased but at a reduced rate, dropping to -1.7% compared to the earlier decline of -2.7%. Inflation rates moderated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, easing to 2.9% from 3%, and for miscellaneous goods and services, which slowed to 1.8% from 2%. The recreation and culture sector saw a decline, falling to -0.1% from 0.2%. On a monthly scale, consumer prices saw a 0.3% uptick in February, decelerating from the previous month's 2% rise.
