Finnish Producer Prices Rise the Most in Near 2 Years

In February 2025, producer prices in Finland saw a year-on-year increase of 0.7%, up from 0.4% in the previous month. This represents the second consecutive rise in producer prices and marks the fastest acceleration since March 2023. The increase was primarily driven by widespread price hikes across most sectors, coupled with a significantly smaller decline in the prices of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning. Although the prices in sectors such as water supply (rising by 2.7% compared to January's 7.1%), mining and quarrying (up by 2.5% from 3.1%), and manufactured products (which grew by 1.0% from 1.2%) all showed moderation, the decline in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning prices was notably less steep, at -3.9% compared to -11.0%. The uptick in manufactured product prices was primarily fueled by increased costs for pulp, timber, and precious metals. On a month-to-month basis, prices remained steady after a January rise, which had the sharpest increase since August 2023.
