Brazil Economy Adds More Jobs than Expected

In February 2025, the Brazilian economy exceeded expectations by adding 431,995 formal jobs, significantly surpassing the market forecast of 250,000. The services sector spearheaded this growth, contributing 254,812 new positions. This was followed by industry, which added 69,884 jobs; commerce with 46,587; construction at 40,871; and agriculture with an increase of 19,842 jobs. São Paulo was the largest contributor, accounting for 137,581 of these jobs, with the services sector making a substantial impact. The average real salary for new recruits stood at R$2,205.25, reflecting a decrease of R$79.41, or 3.48%, from the previous month. Over the last year, Brazil tallied a total of 1,782,761 new jobs.
