In February 2025, retail sales in Germany surged by 0.8% compared to the previous month, marking the largest rise in five months. This follows a revised increase of 0.7% in January and surpasses expectations of no change. The growth was fueled by a 0.8% increase in food sales and a 0.6% rise in non-food sales, with e-commerce and mail-order sales experiencing a significant 1% jump. On an annual basis, retail sales climbed by 4.9%, the most substantial gain in three years, after an upward revision of 3.3% for January.
