Italian Jobless Rate Lowest Since 2007

In February 2025, Italy saw its unemployment rate drop to 5.9%, a decrease from the revised 6.2% reported the previous month, and opposing predictions that anticipated a rise to 6.3%. This figure represents the lowest unemployment rate since April 2007. The number of unemployed individuals declined by 79,000 compared to the prior month, reaching a historic low of 1.517 million over the past seventeen years. Concurrently, employment figures increased, with 47,000 more people employed, bringing the total to 24.332 million. The labor force participation rate slipped by 0.1 percentage points to 67.1%, representing the second-highest level recorded since the data series began in 2004.
