US Crude Oil Inventories Unexpectedly Rise: EIA

Crude oil inventories in the United States experienced an unexpected increase of 6.165 million barrels for the week ending March 28, 2025, according to the EIA Petroleum Status Report, which contradicted market expectations that had anticipated a draw of 2 million barrels. Meanwhile, crude supplies at the Cushing, Oklahoma delivery hub saw an uptick of 2.373 million barrels, reversing a previous decline of 0.755 million barrels. Distillate stockpiles, encompassing diesel and heating oil, rose by 0.264 million barrels, diverging from projections that forecasted a 1.1 million barrel decrease. Conversely, gasoline inventories decreased by 1.551 million barrels, which was slightly less than the predicted 1.9 million barrel draw.
