Brazil Trade Surplus Increases 13.8% in March

In March 2025, Brazil's trade surplus experienced a notable increase, climbing by 13.8% to reach $8.2 billion. This rise marks a recovery from the country's first trade deficit since early 2022, which occurred in the preceding month. On an annual basis, exports grew by 5.5%, totaling $29.18 billion. This upswing was primarily fueled by a 10.1% increase in shipments of manufactured goods, which amounted to $15.32 billion, and a remarkable 16% growth in agricultural exports, reaching $8.22 billion. In contrast, the extractive industry saw a decline, with shipments falling by 15.3% to $5.48 billion. Imports also showed an upward trend, increasing slightly by 2.6% to $21.02 billion. This was mainly driven by a 4.8% rise in purchases of manufactured goods, totaling $19.36 billion, and a significant 22.8% jump in agricultural imports, which stood at $0.58 billion.
