Indonesia has chosen not to implement retaliatory measures against the 32% trade tariff imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on Indonesian goods, scheduled to take effect this Wednesday. Chief Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto announced on Sunday that Indonesia aims to engage in diplomatic dialogue and negotiations to arrive at solutions that benefit both nations. The Indonesian government plans to consult with local businesses on Monday to develop a strategy in response to the U.S. tariff. Additionally, Indonesia will explore opportunities to bolster trade relations with European countries as potential alternatives to the U.S. and China, according to Hartarto. A high-level delegation from Jakarta will be dispatched to the U.S. to engage in direct discussions with American officials.
