Czech Construction Output at 4-Month Low

In February 2025, construction output in the Czech Republic achieved a modest year-on-year increase of 0.9%, a significant deceleration from January’s robust 8.2% growth. This represents the slowest expansion in construction activity since October 2024, largely due to substantial slowdowns in both civil engineering, which grew by 1.3% compared to 6.9% in January, and building construction, which rose by 0.7% down from 8.7%. In contrast, the estimated value of construction projects that received building permits reached CZK 45.6 billion, reflecting a notable 30.2% increase over the previous year. Moreover, construction began on 2,607 dwellings throughout the month. On a month-to-month basis, construction activity declined by 0.6% in February, following a decrease of 1.2% in January.
