Greece Trade Deficit Narrows in February

In February 2025, Greece's trade deficit reduced to EUR 2.4 billion, down from EUR 2.9 billion in the same month the year prior. Exports saw a marginal increase of 0.1% year-on-year, reaching EUR 4 billion. This was due to a 5.2% rise in shipments to EU countries, although exports to non-EU countries decreased by 6%. On the other hand, imports fell by 7.7%, settling at EUR 6.5 billion, driven by reduced acquisitions from both non-EU countries, which plunged by 14.3%, and EU countries, which saw a decline of 1.4%. Over the first two months of the year, Greece's trade deficit improved to EUR 5.3 billion from EUR 5.6 billion in the same timeframe last year, attributed to a 1.6% increase in exports and a 1.3% decrease in imports.
