In March 2025, North Macedonia's annual inflation rate decreased to 2.7%, down from 5% the previous month, marking the lowest rate since last September. This decline was primarily driven by a significant reduction in the inflation of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which fell from 6.6% in February to 2.1%. Additionally, there was a more moderate increase in the prices of furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance, which rose by 3.3% compared to 3.9% previously, as well as in recreation and culture, which increased by 6% compared to 6.4%. Conversely, transport prices saw a decline, moving from a 1% rise to a decrease of 3.8%. However, inflation for housing and utilities experienced a slight uptick, rising to 2% from 1.7%. On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped by 1.3%, following a previous increase of 0.5% in February.
