In February 2025, the Netherlands experienced a 1.2% increase in manufacturing output, a rise from the revised 0.9% increase in January. This represents the most significant expansion in manufacturing output since the previous August, largely fueled by a substantial boost in pharmaceutical production, which soared by 51.5%, compared to a modest 0.6% increase in January. Concurrently, there was a rebound in the production of basic metals, which rose by 4.1% after a decline of 4.8% in the previous month. The machine sector saw a marginal increase of 0.5%, recovering from a 0.5% decline, while automotive and trailer production jumped by 3.2% following a steep 13.3% drop. Other transportation sectors grew by 2.5% after a 2.6% decrease, and the repair and installation of machines witnessed a 2.1% uptick, bouncing back from a 1.1% contraction. On an annual basis, manufacturing activity climbed by 1%, building on a 0.3% rise in the preceding month.
