Finnish Industrial Output Drops for 2nd Month

In February 2025, Finland experienced a 2.4% decline in industrial production year-on-year, extending the revised 0.8% decrease observed in January. This marks the second month of consecutive decline in the sector. The output saw continued contractions in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, decreasing by 4.6% following a 7.4% fall the previous month. Manufacturing production also took a hit, decreasing by 3.4% after remaining stable in January. Conversely, mining and quarrying soared, with activity surging by 17% compared to a 4.5% increase earlier. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output declined by 0.9% in February, a reversal from the previously revised 0.4% gain in the prior month.
