In February 2025, Saudi Arabia experienced a slight annual decline in industrial production by 0.2%, deviating from the upwardly revised growth of 1.5% observed the previous month. This marks the first decrease since June of the preceding year. The decline is primarily attributed to a 0.7% reduction in mining and quarrying activities due to a decrease in the nation’s oil production, which fell to 8.95 million barrels per day from 9.01 million in February 2024. Manufacturing output remained largely steady, growing by just 0.2%, with notable increases in chemical production at 3.5% and food products at 6.3%. The sectors of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply saw a 1.1% increase, while the water supply, sewerage, and waste management and remediation activities reported a significant rise of 13.1%. Comparing month-to-month performance, February’s industrial output rose by 0.7%, improving from a stagnant performance in January.
