In February 2025, Bulgaria experienced a 4.6% decline in industrial production compared to the same month the previous year. This represents a further drop from the revised 3.3% decrease recorded in January. This trend marks the third consecutive month of diminishing industrial activity and is noted as the steepest decrease in this period, largely driven by a significant reduction in manufacturing output, which plunged by 7.1%, compared to a minimal decline of 0.3% previously. Conversely, there was a noteworthy recovery in production within the electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply sector, which rebounded by 11.2% after a prior fall of 13.6%. Additionally, the contraction in the mining and quarrying sector was less pronounced, with a decrease of 1.8% compared to 4.5%. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial activity diminished by 0.7% in February, a slight improvement from the revised 2.1% decline recorded in the preceding month.
