As of April 10th, the average interest rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage backed by Freddie Mac decreased to 6.62%, marking a decline for the fourth week in a row. According to Sam Khater, Freddie Mac’s Chief Economist, "The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage is steadily decreasing, remaining below 7% for the past twelve weeks. With the increase in purchase applications, this year's spring homebuying season is poised to be more promising than last year's."
