New Zealand Card Spending Declines in March

In March 2025, electronic card transactions in New Zealand experienced a month-on-month decline of 0.8% to NZD 6.46 billion, as adjusted for seasonal variations. Within the retail sectors, expenditure on durable goods decreased by 2.5%, hospitality spending diminished by 1.1%, fuel purchases were reduced by 2.3%, and spending on apparel dipped by 2.1%.
