In February 2025, Hungary experienced a 4.5% year-on-year decline in construction output, continuing a trend of contraction for the ninth straight month. However, this decline was less severe compared to the 9.6% decrease witnessed in January. The civil engineering sector showed a significant recovery, with output surging by 15.3%, in stark contrast to the 10.8% fall seen in the previous month. Conversely, building construction saw a greater decline, with a reduction of 11%, compared to an 8.9% decrease in January. On a seasonally adjusted basis, construction output fell by 1.3% in February, a reversal from the 1.6% increase recorded in January.
