Consumer prices in El Salvador experienced a year-over-year increase of 0.14% in March 2025, following a modest rise of 0.06% in February. Price increases were notable in the housing and utilities sector, which grew by 2.23% compared to 1.99% in February. The restaurant and hotel segment, while still seeing growth, slowed to 3.25% from 3.74%, and healthcare sector prices rose by 2.02%, down from 2.34%. Conversely, some sectors saw declining prices: transport decreased by 1.12% following a sharper drop of 3.30% previously, household equipment fell by 1.67% compared to 2.24%, communication prices slipped slightly by 0.74% versus 0.75%, and clothing and footwear saw a reduction of 0.52% against a prior increase of 0.30%. Food and alcoholic beverages declined for the sixth consecutive month, registering the most significant drop in the series at 0.98% compared with 0.55%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.14% in March, reversing the 0.06% dip observed in February.
