In March 2025, China's surveyed unemployment rate dropped to 5.2%, a decrease from the two-year peak of 5.4% in February and below market predictions of 5.3%. Among the locally registered workforce, unemployment was recorded at 5.3%, while it was lower at 4.9% for the non-local registered workforce. In particular, those with agricultural registration experienced an unemployment rate of 5%. Within 31 major cities, the urban survey unemployment rate also stood at 5.2%. Additionally, the average weekly working hours for employees in enterprises across the nation increased to 48.5 hours. Overall, the national urban surveyed unemployment rate averaged 5.3% for the first quarter.
