Retail sales in Indonesia witnessed a 2.0% year-on-year increase in February 2025, recovering significantly from January's nine-month low of 0.5%. This rise underscores the tenth consecutive month of growth in the retail sector. February's figures reveal the fastest expansion since the previous September, driven by a notable surge in sales of automotive parts and accessories, which rose by 16.1%, up from 15.2% in January. Additionally, there was a swift increase in sales of cultural and recreational goods, up by 7.5% from 1.9%, and food sales, which climbed to 1.8% from 0.9%. The clothing sector also experienced a rebound, with sales growing by 4.9% compared to a decline of 5.8% in the previous month, and fuel sales increased by 3.3%, reversing a 1.4% drop. The decline in sales for information and communication products slowed to -2.3% from -3.4%, while the decrease in home appliances sales eased to -4.2% from -9.1%. Looking ahead, retail sales are anticipated to grow by 0.5% in March. On a month-to-month basis, retail sales rose by 3.3% in February, recovering from a 4.7% decline in January.
