In March 2025, total passenger vehicle sales in India experienced a 3.7% year-on-year rise, reaching 329,742 units. This growth rate is consistent with the previous month's trend, as reported by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). It's worth noting that this data does not include sales from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), and Volvo. This marks the sixth consecutive month of year-on-year increases in passenger vehicle sales. However, compared to the previous month, there was a slight decrease of 0.5% in sales, following a notable 5.7% decline in February. Looking at the first quarter of 2025, total passenger vehicle sales amounted to 1,162,560 units, reflecting a 2.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
