Sensex Rises for 3rd Session

India's stock markets experienced a positive boost on Wednesday morning, with the benchmark index climbing 162 points or 0.2% to reach 80,450. This rise positions the index at its highest point since mid-December 2024 and marks the third successive session of gains. The upward momentum was largely driven by robust performances in the pharmaceutical, property, and healthcare sectors. The BSE Sensex mirrored the positive trends noted on Wall Street from the previous night, influenced by encouraging news of an impending major trade deal alongside strong corporate earnings reports. Additionally, optimism surrounding the United States-India trade discussions, buoyed by President Donald Trump's comments about a potential agreement, contributed to the positive mood. However, the ascent was tempered by rising geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan and unsatisfactory Chinese PMI figures. Meanwhile, the Nifty 50 index rose by 0.2%, approaching the 24,400 mark, bolstered by ongoing foreign investments. Leading the winners were Power Grid, advancing by 2.0%, followed by HDFC Bank at 1.2%, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries at 1.1%, and Mahindra & Mahindra at 0.8%.
