In March 2025, pending home sales across the United States rose by 6.1% compared to the previous month. This increase marks the most significant monthly rise since December 2023, far surpassing the anticipated 1%. In particular, sales in the South surged by 9.8%, and the Midwest saw a 4.9% increase. Conversely, the Northeast's Pending Home Sales Index (PHSI) saw a slight decline of 0.5%, while the West experienced growth of 4.8%. Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist at the National Association of Realtors (NAR), noted, "Home buyers are highly responsive to even small changes in mortgage rates. While these contract signings do not assure that transactions will be finalized, the robust increase in pending home sales indicates a significant accumulation of prospective buyers, driven by continuous job growth."
