In the first quarter of 2025, Kazakhstan's current account demonstrated a surplus of USD 0.67 billion, reversing from a deficit of USD 0.05 billion in the same period of the previous year, according to preliminary data. This quarter's surplus is the highest recorded since the third quarter of 2022, attributed to an increase in the trade surplus, which expanded to USD 6.09 billion from last year’s USD 5.75 billion. Concurrently, the primary income deficit showed a slight reduction, narrowing to USD 5.10 billion from USD 5.59 billion. On the other hand, the services deficit experienced a slight increase, rising to USD 0.16 billion from USD 0.14 billion, while the secondary income deficit grew to USD 0.15 billion, up from USD 0.06 billion.
