The HCOB Germany Manufacturing PMI was adjusted upward to 48.4 in April 2025, surpassing the initial estimate of 48 and slightly above March's figure of 48.3. This latest rating is the highest noted in over two-and-a-half years, mainly driven by a substantial and accelerated increase in production output. In April, German manufacturing production reached its fastest growth rate in more than three years, fueled by a resurgence in export orders. Nonetheless, manufacturers in Germany exhibited less optimism about the future and continued to downsize their workforce, albeit at a reduced rate. Significantly, recent data indicated an increase in the average prices set by German manufacturers for the first time in nearly two years, even as input costs experienced a sharp and rapid decline.
