US Wage Growth Slightly Below Forecasts

In April 2025, the average hourly earnings for employees on US private nonfarm payrolls experienced an increase of 6 cents, or 0.2%, reaching a total of $36.06. This followed a 0.3% rise in March and was slightly below market expectations of a 0.3% increase. Specifically, earnings for private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees increased by 10 cents, equating to a 0.3% rise, bringing their average hourly earnings to $31.06. Looking at an annual perspective, wages grew by 3.8% in April, consistent with the growth rate recorded in March and just under the anticipated 3.9%.
