In March 2025, Finland experienced a notable increase in industrial production, with a year-on-year surge of 7.8%. This recovery follows an upward revision from a 2.7% decline the previous month and represents the most substantial growth observed since June 2022. The uptick was driven by a robust resurgence in sectors such as electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, which increased by 7.1% compared to a 4.6% decrease in February. Similarly, manufacturing witnessed a significant bounce back with an 8.8% rise, recovering from a 3.8% fall, particularly bolstered by the chemical and metal industries. Conversely, the mining and quarrying sector saw a downturn, with production plummeting by 7.4%, following a substantial 16.9% increase previously. When adjusted for seasonal variations, there was a monthly increase of 3.6% in industrial activities for March, marking the highest rate in two years, and this follows an upwardly revised decline of 1.1% in the prior period.
