In March 2025, the Netherlands experienced a 0.6% month-over-month decrease in manufacturing production, following a revised 0.8% increase in February. This contraction was primarily attributed to diminished output in several sectors: food production fell by 2.3% compared to no change in February, wood production dropped by 4.5% from a 0.9% increase, paper production decreased by 7.5% compared to a 6.2% rise, basic metals declined by 1.3% from a 2.3% increase, and machinery saw a drop of 2.3% following no change. Additionally, production continued to decline in other areas: textiles fell by 4.7%, down from a 1.7% decrease; leather and footwear dropped by 2.6% compared to a 0.3% decrease; graphic products decreased by 3% following a 4.5% fall; and building materials declined by 2.6%, although this was an improvement from a 9% decrease. When viewed annually, manufacturing output increased by 1.3%, building upon a 0.4% rise in the previous period.
