Brazil Posts Worst Producer Deflation Since 2023

In March 2025, Brazil experienced a notable decrease in producer prices, which fell by 0.62% compared to the previous month. This represents the most significant drop since July 2023, following a 0.12% decrease in February. Out of twenty-four industrial sectors, ten recorded price reductions, with the extractive industries experiencing the most substantial decline at –3.61%. Other notable decreases occurred in printing (–2.15%), metal fabrication (–1.96%), and logging (–1.94%). The food sector, which carries the most significant influence in the index, saw a price decline of 1.35%. On an annual scale, producer prices increased by 8.37%, marking the slowest rate of growth in four months and a decrease from February's 9.41% rise. Within the different categories, consumer goods experienced the highest annual price growth, escalating by 10.22%.
