Retail sales in Romania experienced a 3.4% year-over-year increase in March 2025, marking a deceleration from the previously revised 4.7% growth recorded in February. The growth rate for food, beverages, and tobacco was modest, with sales rising by 0.6%, compared to 0.7% in the previous month. In contrast, automotive fuel sales faced a decline, dropping by 2.3% after a 1.6% increase in February. Conversely, the sales of non-food products saw a further rise, climbing to 8.4% from 7.6%. On a month-to-month basis, retail sales slipped by 0.3% in March, following a revised increase of 0.4% in February.
