Seychelles CPI Edges Up in April

Consumer prices in Seychelles experienced a slight uptick of 0.08% in April 2025, reversing the previous month's decline of 0.04%. This increase was primarily influenced by a rise in the cost of food items excluding fish, with prices climbing by 2% compared to a 1.08% increase in March. Significant price hikes were observed in categories such as frozen, smoked, or salted fish (5.32%), meat (5.21%), vegetables (3.68%), and dairy products, including milk, cheese, and eggs (2.72%). Meanwhile, the prices of non-food products remained unchanged, following a 0.04% drop in the preceding month. In contrast, the cost of fresh fish continued its downward trend, decreasing further by 12.01% compared to a 10.22% decline earlier. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices edged up by 0.16% in April, marking an increase from the nearly stable prices recorded in March.
