In April 2025, Slovakia's annual inflation rate decreased to 3.7%, down from March's fifteen-month peak of 4%, and slightly under the market projection of 3.8%. This represented the lowest rate since December 2024. This decline was driven by a moderation in prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.2% compared to 5.9% in March), healthcare (1.9% from 2.9%), and various goods and services (5.9% down from 6.9%). Additionally, transport costs fell for the first time in six months, decreasing by 1.6% after a previous increase of 1.1%. Conversely, inflation saw a rise in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.6% up from 3.2%), clothing and footwear (3.6% from 3.2%), and services in restaurants and hotels (8.9% compared to 6.7%). On a month-by-month evaluation, consumer prices increased by 0.1% in April, easing from a 0.3% rise in the previous period. At the same time, core inflation, which excludes items with regulated prices, dropped to 2.9% from a thirteen-month high of 3% in March.
