Poland Current Account Switches to Deficit in March

In March 2025, Poland experienced a current account deficit of EUR 1,419 million, a marked shift from the EUR 1,293 million surplus recorded during the same period the previous year. This also fell short of market predictions, which had anticipated a EUR 101 million surplus. Specifically, the goods account swung to a deficit of EUR 1,895 million, compared to the EUR 293 million surplus in March 2024. Furthermore, the deficit in primary income considerably expanded, reaching EUR 2,488 million, up from EUR 1,225 million the year before. On a positive note, the services surplus increased to EUR 3,466 million, rising from EUR 3,191 million, while the secondary income shortfall decreased to EUR 502 million from EUR 966 million.
