Poland reported a trade deficit of €1,895 million in March 2025, marking a significant shift from a surplus of €293 million recorded in the same period the previous year. Imports climbed by 9.1% to reach €31.1 billion, driven by strong domestic demand accompanying a steady economic recovery. This surge in imports was primarily propelled by a significant increase in consumer goods, especially a notable rise in durable goods, along with heightened purchases of intermediate and capital goods. Conversely, exports experienced a modest growth of 1.4% to total €29.2 billion, hindered by the declining European automotive sector and intensifying competition in EU markets. The substantial drop in foreign sales of automotive parts and consumer durables further dampened overall export performance.
