Argentina Inflation Slows To 2.8% In April

In April 2025, Argentina experienced a 2.8% month-on-month increase in consumer prices, a deceleration from the 3.7% rise observed in the previous month, and exceeding the anticipated 3.1% growth. Notably, costs in the education sector plummeted significantly by 2.5%, following a substantial 21.6% increase in March. There was also a moderate decline in the costs of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose by 2.8% compared to 5.9% in March, clothing and footwear increased by 3.8% against 4.6%, and housing and utilities rose by 1.9% versus 2.9%. Conversely, there was an uptick in price growth for communications, which increased to 2.8% from 2.5%, health saw a rise to 2.5% from 1.8%, and the restaurant and hotel sector increased by 4.1% from 3.9%. Transportation costs remained stable at 1.7%. On an annual scale, consumer prices saw a 47.3% increase in April, marking the 11th month of continued disinflation and the smallest annual rise since April 2021. This rate decreased from the 55.9% seen in March and is below the forecasted 47.7%.
