Employment overall surged by 89,000, achieving a record high of 14.64 million, greatly exceeding the anticipated increase of 20,000 and following a revised 36,400 rise in March. Specifically, full-time employment climbed by 59,500 to an all-time high of 10.07 million, and part-time jobs increased by 29,500, reaching a peak of 4.57 million. The participation rate advanced to 67.1%, the highest in three months, up from 66.8% in March and outperforming predictions of 66.8%. The underemployment rate slightly ascended to 6.0% from 5.9%.
