Bulgaria Inflation Eases to 4-Month Low

In April 2025, Bulgaria's annual inflation rate moderated to 3.5%, marking the lowest point in four months, down from 4.0% in March. This deceleration was largely attributed to a drop in transportation costs, which declined by 3.1% after experiencing a 0.5% rise the previous month. Nonetheless, this decrease was somewhat counterbalanced by rising inflation in various sectors. Notable increases were observed in recreation and culture, where inflation surged to 7.0% from 2.4%; in food and non-alcoholic beverages, where it climbed to 5.9% from 5.3%; in restaurants and hotels, which saw an increase to 10.6% from 9.8%; and in housing and utilities, with a slight rise to 6.3% from 6.2%. On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices declined by 0.8% in April, marking the first drop in seven months after a modest 0.2% increase in March.
