In April 2025, China's surveyed unemployment rate decreased to 5.1%, slightly below both market expectations and the previous month's figure of 5.2%. This represents the lowest rate since December 2024. Specifically, the unemployment rate among the locally registered workforce dropped to 5.2%, while the non-locally registered workforce experienced a lower rate of 4.8%. Among this latter group, individuals with agricultural registration saw an even further reduced unemployment rate of 4.7%. Across 31 major cities, the urban surveyed unemployment rate also remained at 5.1%. Furthermore, the average weekly working hours for employees in enterprises across the nation reached 48.3 hours. For the first four months of the year, the national urban surveyed unemployment rate had an average of 5.2%.
