Hungary’s gross average wages experienced an 8.5% year-on-year increase, reaching HUF 714,400 in March 2025, a slight decrease from the 9.3% growth observed in the previous month. This represents the slowest wage growth since February 2023, reflecting a deceleration across various sectors, including the public sector (8.4% compared to 9.5% in February), the private sector (8.5% compared to 9%), and the non-profit sector (8.6% compared to 10.7%). Excluding the effects of one-time payments and bonuses, wages in March were 8.4% higher year-on-year, amounting to HUF 648,700. Over the period from January to March, the average gross wages saw an overall increase of 9.2%.
