In the first quarter of 2025, Georgia's unemployment rate increased to 14.7%, up from 14% in the same period the previous year. This represents the highest level since the fourth quarter of 2023, with the number of unemployed individuals rising by 10.8 thousand to a total of 239.4 thousand. For men, the unemployment rate climbed to 17% from 16.3% in the first quarter of 2024, while the rate for women increased to 11.6% from 11.1%. Concurrently, the employment rate declined to 46.8% compared to 47.3% a year earlier, as the number of employed individuals decreased by 7.6 thousand, landing at 1,394.2 thousand. Additionally, the labor force participation rate slightly decreased to 54.8% from 55%.
